John F. Kennedy Middle School - Beacon Center was awarded a charter by the State of Florida in April 2002. It is a public Middle School that is open to Palm Beach County residents and primarily targets at-risk students. The School, located in Riviera Beach, offers an alternative to larger middle schools in the County.

The governance of the Charter School is provided by a five-member Board that is representative of the population it serves. The school’s administrative team includes the principal and two assistant principals who are experts in working with at-risk youths. Under the strong leadership of Principal Oscar L. Lewis, Sr, the Charter School has grown from 80 to 165 students; two (2) students were accepted into the grade 8.5 program at Palm Beach Lakes High School; and four (4) students attended Stetson University's summer HATS (High Achieving Talent Students) program in 2004.

Over the past 2½ years, the Riviera Beach Academy, Inc has forged strong partnerships with numerous organizations in the community, including the City of Riviera, New Beginnings Community Development Center, and Renaissance Village, Inc.
